The Dearborn Public Schools will not need to make up any missed days as a result of inclement weather.
District administrators reviewed current state regulations for meeting the minimum required number of days and hours of instruction set by the State of Michigan. After verifying with state and county officials, the District was able to determine the current 2013-14 calendar will still provide the required number of instructional days.
The state allows district’s to miss six days due to weather conditions. So far, Dearborn Public Schools have had to close on seven different occasions related to snow and cold. The district has enough time and days in the calendar to cover the one extra day.
If there are any additional school closures, hopefully they will occur after April 1. Any weather related school cancellations after April 1 do not require make up days as defined by the State of Michigan.
