Please review the following test-taking tips with your child:
Before the test:
- Help your child develop a positive attitude about the test with positive discussions before the test.
- Keep them focused on striving for their best, but remaining confident in their ability to give their best effort.
- Ensure your child gets a plenty of sleep the night before the test, but also make sure your child is on time so you are not rushing to school just in time for testing.
- A healthy breakfast will help your child remain focused during the test.
During the test remind your child to:
- Listen carefully to directions given by the teacher.
- Ask questions if you don’t understand what to do.
- Read each question carefully. Find the keywords to help you determine what the question is really asking.
- Read the entire question and look at all answer choices to ensure you are making the best selection.
- Use the strategies used in class to find the answer.
- Relax and give your best effort! I am confident that our Howard Dragons will rise to the challenge!
