Please review the following test-taking tips with your child:

Before the test:

  • Help your child develop a positive attitude about the test with positive discussions before the test.
  • Keep them focused on striving for their best, but remaining confident in their ability to give their best effort.
  • Ensure your child gets a plenty of sleep the night before the test, but also make sure your child is on time so you are not rushing to school just in time for testing.
  • A healthy breakfast will help your child remain focused during the test.

During the test remind your child to:

  • Listen carefully to directions given by the teacher.
  • Ask questions if you don’t understand what to do.
  • Read each question carefully. Find the keywords to help you determine what the question is really asking.
  • Read the entire question and look at all answer choices to ensure you are making the best selection.
  • Use the strategies used in class to find the answer.
  • Relax and give your best effort!  I am confident that our Howard Dragons will rise to the challenge!

Thank you Howard School Students, Staff and Parents for a very successful March is Reading Month!

“March is reading month” was a huge success at Howard Elementary School!

  • Our students exceeded their goal of 200,000 reading minutes by accumulating a grand total of 230,000 reading minutes in the month of March!
  • Because they exceeded their goal, they were treated to a visit by “Batman” (AKA Mr. Blessing)
  • We had many guest readers from parents, extended family, and other everyday heroes!
  • Bingo-for-Books was a huge success. With many students and parents attending.  Everyone enjoyed the yummy hot dogs donated to our PTA by El-Sayed meats.  Every student won at least one book and many left with their hands full of books!  It was a great evening , and hopefully it inspired our students to read even more!
  • Every day our wonderful teachers and staff work hard to inspire our students and help them achieve academically!
  • Our PTA continues to amaze us with an incredible amount of support for our students!

It is a distinct honor to work with this amazing learning community!  Enjoy your spring break!

Thank you Howard Community!

Dear Howard Learning Community,

I would like to thank the entire Howard School Community for the warm welcome and support over the past two weeks. It has been a distinct pleasure serving as your principal.  I want to assure you that as the interim principal, I will continue to work hard to ensure that every student receives the very best services available.

We have a very special learning community that we are all very proud of, and while I am here, I will make every effort to address the current and long-term needs of our school while keeping Howard Elementary School moving in a positive direction.  I look forward to our continued partnership as we work together in our pursuit of educational excellence!
