Howard Elementary School

Great to see you all! 🙂

Hello Howard Families,

It was wonderful to meet so many of our Howard Dragons the past two days! If you were not able to make it out to the school (yesterday or today), please be sure to email your child’s teacher to make arrangements for a pick-up; we will NOT have a school-wide drive-up distribution tomorrow, as almost all of our students already showed up!

Thank you for all your hard work this week! The Howard staff appreciates all the positivity, understanding, and patience of our students/parents/guardians. Please know that we recognize there are mixed emotions as we transition to the start of a new school year in remote mode, but we are certain that things will get easier as we build and establish new routines and norms. We will make the best of the situation and we will ensure that our students are engaged in high levels of academic rigor across the content areas. The Howard teachers have been working extremely hard and are here to make sure that your child has a great learning year. Thank you for your continued patience as it will take everyone a couple of weeks to get adjusted to our new learning platforms. Please practice with your children on how to log-in through the student portal to get to Schoology for all their needs (i.e. Zoom, Benchmark reading program, lessons, assignments). I am also practicing with my three children at home and know that it is a learning curve for all of us. 🙂 After everyone learns how to use Schoology, I am sure you will be relieved, as it is truly an excellent platform and user-friendly.

Also, please look for an email from your child’s teacher tomorrow that will include the district-wide daily schedule with times of synchronous (live/whole group) and asynchronous (independent) learning. The schedule will remain consistent throughout remote learning beginning September 8th. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions, concerns, and/or need to share individual student/family needs.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs. Sabbagh

Principal
