Most recent parent meeting Info:

Hello Howard Families!

Last Thursday, 3/10, we hosted a parent meeting on Higher Level Thinking and Assessment. This topic was highly requested by Howard families, and we know that not everyone was able to attend so we have linked the presentation to this post for your convenience.

A few items of note that were discussed at the meeting:

  • Assessment was briefly discussed including the MSTEP assessment that is coming up for 3-5 grade students in the spring. If you are interested in seeing what the MSTEP looks like and practicing some of the questions with your child, please use the link below to access the sample questions from the MDE website. You will need to click on “Sample Item Sets” and then select the grade level that you would like to access.

  • Higher Level Thinking games were raffled off at the meeting, however if you are interested in purchasing your own for your child(ren) the sites below are excellent options.

https://www.lakeshorelearning.com/ : this store is pretty great all-around, but the categories of “STEM,” “Games,” and “Active Play” have many great higher level thinking resources. You can also search by your child’s age!

https://www.melissaanddoug.com/: This site has some great puzzles and games

https://www.fatbraintoys.com/toys/special_needs/search_toys_by_developmental_goal/cognition/logic_reasoning/: This site has excellent resources for children infant age all the way up to 5th grade!

We look forward to seeing you at our next parent meeting!
