Read Your Heart Out Principal Challenge

To promote reading during National Young Readers Week, Mr. Denison read all day at school on Friday, November 15th.

The Principal Challenge is part of Pizza Hut Book It! Program’s National Young Readers Week celebration that is an annual event co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

Enjoy the photos below from students who ‘assisted’ Mr. Denison throughout the day. He read ‘That Book Woman’ by Heather Henson to every student in the school. Howard students are the best!

Halloween Parade – Cancelled

The Halloween parade scheduled for this afternoon (October 31st @ 1:30) has been cancelled.  Parties and other scheduled events for this afternoon are still taking place.  If you will be taking your children out to Trick-or-Treat this evening, please be safe and enjoy the time with your family.

Pizza Days are Back!!

Starting November 6, every Wednesday in November is a WINS-day.

You win because you don’t need to cook dinner for the family.  Your kids win because they love pizza (no really they do). The Education Foundation wins with donations from the participating Pizzeria’s.  MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!! CLASSROOMS WIN THROUGH GRANTS FROM THE FOUNDATION!!!!

So every Wednesday purchase a Pizza from one of the pizzerias listed on the attached flyer. Your order will show these local business that supporting the Foundation is beneficial to them and to the students in our classrooms. All funds raised by the Foundation go to fund teacher grants that are submitted throughout the year.

Thanks for being hungry and thanks for trying some of the best pizza in town.

Halloween Parade – Thursday, October 31st

The annual Howard School Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st @ 1:30 p.m. The parade is a PBIS reward for the month of October. Students are eligible unless they have more than six yellow lights, more than one blue light, one red light or an Office Discipline referral. Additionally, students from DHS will be handing out candy to our students.

A decision to cancel the parade due to poor weather will be made by Mr. Denison and communicated through teacher blogs and a robo call from the office. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we be able to have the parade. Think sunny and dry!
